Some simple criteria I would
use when choosing a reliable
contractor.
1. Length of time in business: This
isn't imperative of course because there are some good guys
just starting out. But time usually thins out the bad from the good the best from the
better.
2. Membership in a national organization
such as National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI.org) or National Assn. of
Home Builders a few others. Membership in these national
industry organizations indicate they
are very serious about running a solid business. You will find
these companies are usually a cut or two above the
rest.
3. A reliable
contractor will have a ready list of customers they are working
for now or finished recently. A phone call to a few will give
you an idea of how they fared with
previous customers. There is never a guarantee of course but
using these three will increase your odds dramatically
for finding better contractors.
