Too Soon Old, Too Late Smart
I believe it was George Bernard Shaw who said
"Too bad youth is wasted on the young."
How right he was. Which one of us doesn't want to
rewrite at least part of our youth experience. Some of
those really dumb things we did come back to haunt us
later on in life.
However there may still be time left to stop doing the
dumb things we continue to do today. What's that you
say? "We don't do dumb things anymore"
Oh yes we do.
I watched you buy room additions for 25 years & you
kept making the same mistakes over & over. You really
made a mess of things. I witnessed people buy additions
for
thousands of dollars more than they were worth. (From
those dastardly competitors of mine, of course.)
They fell for the flim flam nonsense thrown at them
because they wanted to believe that they were getting
something for nothing.
Free wall paneling, free air conditioner units, free
windows, free tile floor, free upgrades were pretty
hard to turn down. "What a deal I got!"
The odds are you paid too much & you could have
bought it elsewhere for less.
The basic Economics 101 lesson remains the
same.
Business has to take in more than it receives. There is
no way that a business can give away anything.
We understand this intellectually but it is hard to grasp
emotionally.
The lesson is, buy with your head, not your
emotions.
